10 Tips For YOS Exam Candidates

1 - All the books of (Metropol curriculum) always in its final version, which considered the best in this field. Always look for an old version of previous years and different universities, they are available on the Internet.

2 – The exam contains 80 questions in mathematics (30-35 algebra + 5-10 geometry) and 40  IQ questions, Some universities may add analysis of literary texts in English or Arabic (10-15 questions), you have to take in consideration all parts of the exam.

3 - Speed answering is not less important than trying to correct answer because of the limited time (80 questions in 100-120 minutes).

4 – Do not stop much on a question that you don’t know the answer at first glance, leave it and go to the next, after completion of all questions ,you may go back and use your spare time, look at the time permanently and never ignore it, look at your wristwatch (best digital) .When you start, divide the given time on the number of questions to know the timeshare of each question.

5 - Some universities (not all) delete one correct answer every 4 wrong answers, which you must be sure of before entering the exam. Go through all exam sections, whether you know the answer in a high percentage, leave the question and reduce the margin of error. If this condition is not available Do not leave any question unanswered.

6 - Do I start with IQ or Mathematics? This depends on you and your abilities, It’s your choice. If you are good and fast in math questions, start with it and save some minutes and vice versa.

7 - Practice, Practice and Practice as many questions as possible and use the previous year’s exams, this will help you master all the methods and answer maneuvers, gives you the speed required and makes you quick-witted because you have passed on all forms of questions.

8- Application and registration online on universities websites (start of January till the end of April) on many exams for different universities to improve your chances, because the number of seats(assigned for foreigners) and the number of nominees vary from one university to another. The acceptance percentage in universities far from big cities improves because the number of applicants is less (e.g. there are exams which are acceptable in 100 universities such as the exam of University of Istanbul, but on the other hand, this exam is one of the most difficult exams so the opportunity to be accepted is classified very difficult). Of course, all the state universities are highly classified, so it’s not important which university but being accepted in any of them.

9 - After the results are submitted in the university websites, you apply for the 1st differentiation process, in case of non-acceptance we wait for the announcement of the 2nd differentiation ((most important)) to apply, follow the pages and email, await the correspondence of universities for the results, and time schedule for registration, which is limited in a short time (of course, we apply for all differentiations in all universities that accept a particular exam, not necessarily the university that you attended their exam).

10- Whatever the outcome of the exam result, we apply to the differentiation. Acceptance has different criteria’s and different controls; each year differs from the other: success mark/applicant nationality/number of applicants/specialization/ increasing the number of admissions/morning or evening university courses etc.
