The Near East University was established in 1988, in the city of Nicosia, the capital of Northern Turkish Cyprus. The university has more than 26,000 students, including thousands of international students from about 100 countries around the world, studying through 20 colleges, about 218 postgraduate programs, as well as vocational institutes and 4 vocational schools. It also had the lead in opening faculties of human medicine and dentistry in Cyprus.

Near East University has made remarkable progress in recent times, becoming one of the top educational institutions and cultural centers on the island of Cyprus.
