Open Education High School (Açık Öğretim Lisesi):
Open Education (Açık Öğretim) is a distance learning system that is based on using media for remote learning through the means of publication (written and audio-visual). The duration of the study is 4 years, it is divided into 8 classes(terms). Those who exceed 18 years of age can offer 3 classes per year, thus reducing the period to two years and a half. It was adopted in 1992 by the Turkish Ministry of Education, where the student can study an integrated curriculum for the secondary certificate freely without the commitment to the regular school schedule, which qualifies him to take an exam and be able to participate in the process of differentiation of Turkish universities with all its specialties. The given certificate is authorized by Turkish Ministry and recognized internationally if the student wishes to complete his / her university studies in a second country. Books can be obtained from the popular (Halk Egitim Merkezi) or regular schools free of charge.
At the beginning of academic year 2016-2017, the Turkish Ministry of National Education approved this system for Syrian students in temporary education centers and those who failed in the (YOLYDS exam) during the previous two years.
Examinations are conducted three times a year, usually at the beginning of each academic year between January and July.
The exams are held during the weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Two exams are offered every day at 10:00 and 14:00. The questions are multiple choice, consists of 4 answers, every 4 wrong answers delete a correct answer.
Syrian students are registered on the examination by going to the Halk Eğitim directorates in the Turkish cities and towns accompanied by the following documents: 2 personal photographs, a copy of the temporary protection card, the picture of residence and a certificate of completion of the secondary stage taken from the temporary education centers. In addition to the payment of the amount of 30 Turkish liras in (ZIRAAT bank or VAKIF bank) for the examination period that the student wishes to apply for.
The ministry stipulated that the student for the certificate should pass two subjects. He is free to choose from the entire Turkish curriculum, which includes Turkish language, foreign language, Turkish literature, religious culture, ethics, traffic and first aid.
